The Saurashtra-Kutch industry writes to PM, demanding Maruti Udyog plant in the region
The Saurashtra Vyapaar Udyog Mahamandal on Thursday wrote to Mr. Manmohan Singh, the Honorable Prime Minister of India requesting him to direct Maruti Udyog Limited to put up their proposed new plant in the Saurashtra-Kutch region in the state of Gujrat. In their mail the umbrella group of Saurashtra’s industry chambers; Saurashtra Vyapaar Udyog Mahamandal (SVUM) has blamed the Gujrat Chief Minister for ignoring the development plans and progress in the areas of Saurashtra-Kutch.
The President of Mahamandal Mr. Parag C. Tejura said that the association has appealed to all the Saurashtra based industrial and engineering organizations to write personally to Mr. Manmohan Singh and demand the same. As per Mr. Parag C. Tejura the Saurashtra-Kutch districts are famous for their small and medium units. Currently these units are exporting auto spare parts to national and international companies in the country. Hence, assuming that Maruti Udyog commences its manufacturing in that area, then these units are trustworthy enough to serve the passenger car manufacturer.
Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) Chairperson Osamo Suzuki met Mr. Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujrat State in the beginning of this month to talk about his company’s tentative strategy of establishing Maruti Suzuki’s Indian wing of production unit in the state. He also said that the company’s board meeting which is scheduled in the last week of October will decide up on the ultimate decision.
Global models like Maruti Swift Dzire, A-Star, Maruti Swift and Maruti SX4 are currently rolled out by the Maruti’s production unit based in Manesar.
