Upcoming cars in India: More SUVs and MUVs lined up for India
If any new or existing car manufacturer will be focusing on any segment, it will be either the small car segment or the utility car segment. 2012 year is a clear witness of this trend. With plethora of small cars and Utility Vehicles (UV), the year has been the most happening with the sensation Maruti Ertiga and the Renault Duster. Not to forget the Mahindra Quanto. But sensing the reports by industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) that has a keen eye on the developments in the Indian auto industry, there has been around 62 percent increase in the sales of utility vehicles in the country, any car maker will focus more on the utility segment.

There are more there and there is more to come as far as the UV segment is concerned. The Duster, Ertiga,
Tata Safari Storme,
Mercedes Benz M Class and other Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) are in and the
Ford Ecosport,
Maruti XA Alpha,
Chevrolet Enjoy and others are eagerly awaited. Thus the real show in this segment will begin once it is fully populated by offerings. In addition to these there is high probability that other car makers will be launching SUVs and Multi Utility Vehicles (MUV).
These car makers include Hyundai, Ford, Chevrolet and Skoda. Where Hyundai has no presence in the MUV segment, it has only one popular SUV
Hyundai Santa Fe. Meanwhile, Ford still lacks MUV and SUV under the
Ford Endeavour. Chevrolet on the other hand is soon to come up with the Enjoy MUV to take on
Toyota Innova and the Ertiga while it also plans to have one come compact SUV in place soon.
In addition to this, Skoda is also planning to have two SUVs under the
Skoda Yeti. Thus, the Indian market will soon have offerings that will make it a hub of SUVs and MUVs. It is believed that just as the world is showing a trend for SUVs so will India emerge as one of the major markets of these sports vehicles.
