Upcoming MPVs to edge up in Ertiga and Innova’s domain
In India a car is synonymous with a family car – small or big as India moves together with the family. It is this sentiment of India that must have encouraged car makers to pitch in their MPVs in country off late. Prior to Maruti Ertiga, either there were low priced people movers such as Maruti Omni or Maruti Eeco or highly priced Toyota Innova, Chevrolet Tavera or Mahindra Xylo but there was nothing in between. Ertiga has plugged in the void. And what more, there are lots of MPVs to come including Nissan Evalia, Chevrolet Enjoy, Mahindra Mini Xylo, Ford B Max, Honda Mini MPV, Ashok Leyland Style, and our own Force Motors MPV. Let us talk about them in detail.
Mahindra Mini Xylo
Though it is still unclear whether the mini version of the people mover will retain any characteristics of its senior or not or will it succumb to be a small car but the Mini Xylo is presumed to be MPV. Expected to be priced around Rs 5 lakh to Rs 6 Lakh, the Mini Xylo will be the most affordable MPV in India once it is launched within two months.

Honda mini-MPV
Based on the Honda’s new car concept – Concept S, the mini MPV is expected to be powered by 1.6 L diesel and 1.5 L petrol engine options. The same 1.6 L diesel will also be powering the Honda Civic and Honda City. The Honda MPV will be priced around Rs 10 lakh.
Ashok Leyland Style
This will be the light commercial vehicle from the makers of big trucks and other vehicles. The Style is expected to be launched in India in the second half of 2013 and could carry a price tag of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The Ashok Leyland Style was unveiled at the Auto Expo held in January this year.
Force Motors MPV
This will be another made for India MPV by the makers of Force One SUV. The best part of this MPV will be the it will be highly inspired with the engine and other technology used in Mercedes cars as the car maker uses the Mercedes sourced technology and engines. It will be a lookalike of Mercedes-Benz Viano.
