Volkswagen Beetle launched in India, priced at Rs. 28.73 lakh

German carmaker Volkswagen had recently re-launched its "iconic Beetle" in Indian Car Maket, priced at Rs 28.73 lakh (Ex-showroom, Mumbai). The bookings of same have been already commenced by car maker since November this year with a token amount of Rs. 1 lakh.

New Beetle

The Beetle was discontinued from Indian car market two years back.  In its new avatar, the 21st century Beetle is powered by 1395cc in-line four-cylinder TSI petrol engine churning the power of 148bhp and a peak torque of 250Nm, equipped with seven-speed DSG transmissions and will be available in four colours namely Tornado Red, Habanero Orange, Blue Silk and Oryx White.

Addressing the launch ceremony Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India stated, "The Beetle is an iconic car that has scripted automotive history for over six decades, and we are delighted to announce the India launch of the 21st Century Beetle. Carrying forward its unmistakably timeless charm, blended with modern day technological sophistication, the 21st Century Beetle now comes with rounded yet masculine proportions and a host of refined, irresistible internal and exterior features. We are confident of continuing the Beetle's legacy in India and we believe that the biggest addition to the 21st Century Beetle is the element of unlimited fun."

Bug Car

In its new avatar bug car gets slightly angular design featuring front fog lamps, bi-xenon headlamps, a rear spoiler, dual exhaust, foldable electric ORVM’s and 16-inch alloy wheels in the exteriors. In the interiors car features leather upholstery seats, dual-zone air ventilating system, panoramic sunroof top, touchscreen infotainment system with 8 speakers, cruise control and auto-dimming rear view mirror.
