Volkswagen India set to launch new Beetle 2012 next year
Volkswagen Beetle, one of the most popular cars in the world that has been praised as the people’s car for five over decades now, is all set to hit the Indian roads in a new avatar next year. The current model of Beetle that has been named as ‘New Beetle’ will be renamed as ‘2012 Beetle’. This will be the third generation model of this iconic car. The expected launch date of the car in the Indian market is February 2012.

Speaking to the reporters in Mumbai at the occasion of the launch of new Jetta sedan, Mr. Neeraj Garg, a member of the board and director of Volkswagen Group Sales India said that the company will be rolling-out the third generation of Beetle in the country soon. However, the launch will not take place in the current year.
The car was displayed at the Shanghai Motor Show a few months back. The all new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is already available for sale in the US market where it is receiving an overwhelming response from the buyers in that market.

The Beetle model was launched in the Indian market in December 2009, just a month before the Delhi Auto Expo 2012. So far, the company has managed to sell 617 units of this car in the Indian market, out of which 466 units were sold in year 2010. So far in this year, the company has sold 93 units of Beetle in the Indian auto market.
