Volkswagen to launch Rs 3.3 lakh car soon

Luxury car maker Volkswagen seems to have learnt a lesson why Maruti, Tata and Mahindra do not offer premium cars in India. It is the reason that small cars and low priced cars make hay as there the sun always shines on this segment. Sensing this, the German automaker will be launching cars in the price range of Rs 3.3 lakh to Rs 6.5 lakh soon. It will take another two years for the car maker to figure out or pitch in what all cars it will be bringing in India. The Volkswagen Up and the Skoda Citigo are already on cards and now it is to be seen when these cars become a reality in India.

The segment is quite lucrative as it is still unexplored and Volkswagen’s foray into it will not only bring in momentum but will also be forcing the other car makers to offer class leading features. Since German cars are best in terms of luxury, the Volkswagen small car in the segment will be offering up market features, comfort and convenience. Also, this time VW is believed to price its cars incredibly low as it has seen that whatever is priced less and is feature rich works well in the country.  

The Up! car that is scheduled to be launched soon is one of the cars that could debut the car manufacturers presence in the segment. Besides, the MQB platform is there with VW which will help it get low cost cars. It is said that India is a market governed by Maruti and it will be so for the next decade unless some very cheap offering by brands such as Nissan Datsun or Chevrolet Sail comes into place. It is also said that India is a patriotic country and its citizens still stick to Indian brands reason being the ease of availability of service parts. However, this vision is changing fast and people prefer foreign brands the same way they do for India made cars.
