Volvo India to launch new cars, frugal engines in India
Volvo India has significantly given a boost to its presence as well as line up in the last five years after it started its operations in 2007. Now that the brand is settling fast with some offerings such as Volvo S60, Volvo S80 sedans, and SUVs such as Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC90, the car maker has made an ambitious plan for India. As per the sources information, the car maker will be pitching in new cars apart from strengthening its base in the country in the next three years.

In India, the Swedish car maker is just another car maker and not a big rival to the luxury car trio including BMW, Mercedes Benz and Audi. However, the S60 sedan has recently become the hot favorite among the premium sedans and this must have encouraged the car maker to chalk out an aggressive policy for India. The recent launch of the S 60 D3 variant at an affordable price of Rs 25 lakh has made it more than a worth buy in the luxury sedan market. However, the new Mercedes Benz 3 Series coming soon will be giving tough time to this Volvo car. Other cars that it competes with are Volkswagen Passat, Nissan Teana among others.

The XC60 SUV that has also got its D3 variant recently has also become a prominent player in the segment and is priced at Rs 32.25 lakh and eats a larger share of Audi Q3 and the draws to its side the entry level buyer of Audi Q5. However, being priced more, the BMW X1 it is still not able to do any wrong to it. Now that Volvo thinks it has really true potential in the country, it will be doing some activities to further its brand’s presence in the country. This will include a car launch every year besides sponsoring the Lakme Fashion Week and it will be setting up an assembly unit in the country that will bring down the cost of the cars as well. In addition to this introduction of smaller fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines is also on the cards. The process of adding new dealerships is already on.
