Volvo to launch V40 hatchback based XC40 crossover
Volvo India has laid a hectic plan for it in the coming years. Where it will be launching new models, it will also be starting production of Volvo cars in India. As per the latest information, the car maker will be launching the 2013 Volvo XC40 crossover next year after the car is unveiled this year at the Paris Motor Show to be held in September. Currently, the Swedish car maker offers Volvo S60, Volvo S80 sedans and two SUVs including Volvo XC60 and Volvo XC90. The Volvo car price ranges from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 55 lakh and are currently available through the completely built up unit route.

The XC40 crossover has been developed on the V40 hatchback that has more of sports genes than a small car nature. This will also be the entry level product and thus it will be priced below Rs 23 lakh. Thus, the Volvo’s new crossover will be competing with recently launched Audi Q3, already present and rocking BMW X1 and upcoming Mercedes Benz A Class. Meanwhile, the Swedish car maker is preparing a big show for the XC40 and it will be positioned below the XC 60 and XC 90 that are available in India. Though it is almost six months away but it is expected that the car maker will be giving a tough time to the big wig of SUVs in India once it is launched here.

With this, the XC SUV lineup by Volvo will be in the same order as that of the BMW that has BMW X1, BMW X3, BMW X5 and BMW X6 and Audi has Audi Q3, Audi Q3 and Audi Q7. After the SX40 is launched, the line up in the XC series SUVs will be XC40, XC60 and XC90.
