Waiting period of Ford EcoSport to shorten with third shift production
With an objective to minimize the waiting period of its successful SUV EcoSport in Indian car market, Ford India is going to initiate third shift at its production unit located at Chennai. The SUV was launched last year and reports to have waiting period of more than three months. It is reported that the supply of lower version is low as still there are some dealer who report the waiting period of more than three months for the base variant 1.5 Ambiente.

Commenting on this report company sources said that due to low profit margin of low priced variants company is supplying them in limited number. On the other side U.S based car maker said that they are not minimizing the demand of lower variants but going through the excessive demand of high variants company is not able to meet the demand of lower variants.
In the words of Mr. Nigel Harris, President, Ford India, the SUV has been doing well in all markets where it is launched. This has pressurized the suppliers of EcoSport of all markets. But company cannot change the scene instantly but has caught the missing link and now they are going to enhance the production. Therefore now company is going to commence the third shift for producing new volumes of EcoSport. The SUV was launched last year and despite of hike in its price due to increasing cost of production, the prospective buyers are ready to wait for months to buy it.
