Amidst aggressive expansion drive, Audi India sales surge 104 percent in August

Audi India, one of the most popular luxury car brands in the Indian market, has now become one of the fastest growing luxury car makers in the country. The company registered a whopping 104 percent growth in the month of August 2011 with selling 510 cars during the month. In comparison, the company had managed to sell mere 250 units of its cars during the month of August 2010.

In the first 8 months (Jan - Aug) of this calendar year, the company sold a total of 3655 cars in the Indian market as compared to 1876 cars sold in the same period last year, accounting for a massive growth of 95 percent.

Commenting on the company’s performance in the Indian market over the period of last eight months, Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India said that India is an important market for the company and with registering growth as high as 95 percent; the Indian market is well ahead of other growth markets of the company.

It is to be mentioned here that Audi aims to become the number one luxury car maker in the Indian auto market by year 2015. Audi plans to achieve this target by launching a series of new products in the country so that it can reach more and more Indian buyers and enhance its market share considerably. Audi is the largest luxury car maker in Chinese and European markets, but in India is has third spot following BMW and Mercedes at first and second spots.

The recent launches of Audi A6 sedan and Audi Q5 Business Edition have further strengthened the company’s portfolio in the country. This year, the company is confident of crossing the previously set sales target of 5,000 units.

Audi is currently on an expansion drive in the Indian market with plans of increasing the number of dealers as well as products. The firm plans to have a strong dealership network of 25 dealers by the end of next year.

So far in this year, the company has launched a series of new car models in the Indian market that comprises of Audi A8 L, Audi R8 V10, Audi R8 Spyder, Audi A7 Sportback, and recently rolled-out Audi RS5 Coupe.
