If Honda India is thinking of introducing diesel motors in Honda cars in India, it is better late than never. It is after a turmoil hit 2011 both in terms of production and sales, Honda now wants to have some really long anticipated diesel offerings this year. The recent shift of focus to diesel after a long innings of producing only petrol car offering in India, is due to the ongoing high demand of diesel cars in India. Some time back Honda has shown the 1.6L diesel engine slated to be housed inside the Honda Civic. As per the recent updates, the said engine is almost ready and the Honda Civic could hit production soon. However, a decision on different diesel engines for other cars is in discussion phase but there will be some declaration soon. Evidently, Honda had to suffer great loss in 2011, due to natural calamities in Japan followed by stiffing competition in India with the entry of Hyundai Verna, New Ford Fiesta besides others in the sedan segment. At a time Volkswagen Vento sales surpassed Honda City sales in India.
