Luke warm start for Indian car market in terms of sales, while Hyundai had a smiling month!
With the very sluggish 2012, this year’s start in terms of sale was not very impressive as well. The high interest rates with superior price rises made the January sales very slow and not inspiring for car makers like Ford, Toyota and Tata Motors. Even for the India’s largest car maker, the sales declined by 1.06% in Jan 2013. However, the second largest car maker of India, Hyundai motors saw a cumulative growth of about 4.25%.
It is good to see that Hyundai Motors had a good start in the New Year. The reason behind this minor success is the domestic along with the export sales. The sales of its small cars like Hyundai Eon, Hyundai i20 and sedan like Verna have seen a bit of increase in last month. Recently, the firm had announced a price rise on its all car models and despite of this rise, consumers loved Hyundai cars leading to improved sales in Jan 2013. The company is working hard on the promotions as well. Of late, Hyundai introduced ‘write your i10 story’, which is contest that allows people to write their own Hyundai i10 experience.
Also, the firm is all geared up to bring in another small car for the Indian car fanatics. This car will apparently fill the gap between Hyundai i10 and Hyundai i20. This new small car will be featuring 1.1 litre diesel engine that would be manufactured at Hyundai’s new plant located in Chennai. The testing of this small car by Hyundai would be commenced in next couple of months and could hit the production around October 2013. Hopefully, this new car by Hyundai will further bring in more sales figures for the firm.
