Maruti Alto 800 crosses 21k bookings, leaves other car makers in desperation

The Maruti Alto 800 has become Maruti India savior after the company was hit badly by Manesar crisis and then by the slump in demand for cars in India. But the Alto 800 launch and that too at an incredibly low price of Rs 2.44 lakh has really bagged much response from the India car buyers. This new Maruti car has already bagged over 21 k bookings within the first week of its launch. It was launched on October 16 and it was launched with over 10k pre-launch bookings. The overall response to the car is immense and with this the car maker has received a thrust of over 15 percent in terms of bookings figure compared to last year.  

This Maruti car has really been the quick selling car and the timing is perfect. The car has already given a toughest fight to the Alto K10 and the other cars such as Hyundai Eon, Tata Nano and others. Now it is to be seen how the new Chevrolet Spark will perform as its launch is on October 25. Experts believe that soon the booking figure will touch 28k in the next one week and this a monthly 15 k is what is expected in the long run. The initial response is more than expected and this has prompted other car makers to shift their focus to this segment that is capable of giving some quick volumes.  

It is expected that the other car makers such as Nissan and a couple of others probably Mahindra will be coming up with a small car that will be targeting the Alto 800. It is believed that after the recent launch of the Tata Nano Special Edition that really targets some spoil sport for the Alto 800, Tata may hasten the Tata Nano Diesel launch. Or it could be possible that Tata may unveil the Diesel Nano first in the coming days and can later start delivering the cars at a later time.
