Maruti Alto 800 Diesel launch in 2014
Maruti Alto 800 has been the best car launches of 2012 and it will be the best car launch in the near future as well. This time it will be the diesel model that will rock the small car segment. Yes, Maruti is coming up with the diesel model of Alto 800. This diesel powered small car will counter the anticipated mammoth sales of Tata Nano Diesel. Experts believe that as the entry level car segment lacks any diesel offering and the diesel car line up starts with Tata Indica eV2 that has a start price of Rs 4.20 lakh, there is a dire demand of diesel cars under Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4 lakh. As per the rumors, Maruti Alto 800 Diesel launch will be sometime in 2014 with unveiling at the Auto Expo to be held in February at Greater Noida.

Currently, there are two major car makers that are in the race of supplying car in this price band. Other car makers such as Datsun by Nissan and Dacia by Renault will also be pitching in low cost cars in the country. Meanwhile, there are strong hints coming in that Mahindra is also developing a small car and this could give a new dimension to the small car segment. As per the reports, this Maruti car will be transforming the segment to a greater extent as being a diesel car this will have an edge over petrol cars as who knows that the petrol price may reach Rs 100 per litre by that time.

I heard that diesel prices are going up. The industry is already facing a slowdown and companies are trying to keep the warmth by launching various discount and promotional programs. I fear that companies will postpone the launch of more diesel cars due to such policies. Let’s see how far Maruti Alto Diesel goes with its plans.
