Maruti Alto bestselling car in 2012 in India!
Everyone and every car maker in India know for a fact that Indian consumers need their cars on an affordable and economical price. But, sometimes, even the cheapest car turns out to be a failure for customers. For example, Tata Nano, which is the cheapest car in the world, did not get on the top spot when the list of top 10 passenger cars sold in 2012 in India was taken into account; rather it was on the last spot. On the other hand, the top spot was cracked by Maruti Alto, which sold 2.86 lakh units last year. The second spot belonged to Maruti Swift. Maruti Suzuki India sold about 1.86 lakh units of Swift in 2012. In compared to 2011, this one enhanced its rank from fourth to second. The third rank was given to Maruti Swift Dzire. So, it appears that Maruti Suzuki India did rock 2012 in terms of sale.
Apart from these cars, there were other small cars, which made it to the list. Hyundai Eon was one of the best selling cars in India last year. Hyundai managed to sell around 93,578 units of Eon last year with 8th spot. However, it was a pleasant surprise to see Mahindra Bolero in the top selling cars of last year. Conversely, it was quite disappointing to see that great cars like Ford Figo, Chevrolet Spark and Tata Indica were not on the ranking list.
Overall, the list of top-selling cars of 2012, was surprising, disappointed and pleasant all at the same time. The sales were obviously a little slow last year, because of slow growth rate, high input costs and sky-rocketing fuel prices. Hopefully, everything will pep up this time and the sales figure would increase to large number in 2013.
