Maruti sales surges, Alto 800 emerges as big contributor

The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited has registered a sales surge of 12.45 percent in the month of November 2012. The company managed to sell a total of 1,03,200 units during this month as compared to 91,772 units sold in the same month last year. In the domestic market, the company sold a total of 90,882 units of their cars during this month as compared to 82,870 units sold in the same month previous year, registering a sales surge of 9.67 percent.

On the other hand, the exports of the company stood at 12,318 units during last month as compared to 8,902 units dispatched to the overseas market in the same month previous year, accounting for an exports growth of 38.37 percent. The newly launched Maruti Alto 800 appeared as a major contributor in the company’s sales growth during this month with booking orders crossing the crucial sales mark of 50,000 units. So far, the company has delivered a total of 32,000 units of their cars in the country.

The mini segment sales of Maruti cars (including Maruti 800, Alto 800, Alto K10, A-Star and Wagon R) stood at 36,679 units during the month as against 38,921 units sold in November last year, registering a growth of 5.76 percent. On the other hand, the compact segment (Maruti Swift, Ritz and Zen Estillo) sales surged 7.63 per cent to 23,849 units in comparison to 22,159 units in the same month last year.

The hot selling entry level sedan Maruti Swift Dzire sales stood at 13,502 units in November from 10,403 units same month last year, accounting for a sales surge of 29.79 percent. However, the sales of SX4 sedan dipped 51.71 per cent to 692 units last month. However, the biggest dip of 56.17 per cent in sales was witnessed by the Kizashi sedan at 71 units as against 162 units in the previous year.
