Maruti Suzuki refuses to compromise
The differences between the management and the workers of Maruti Suzuki are not ending. Now, Maruti Suzuki has declined to compromise on issues with its workers. It has called the situation a political issue, and said that it won't let the workers get away with it.
The problems started when Maruti Suzuki's management stopped the workers from entering the Manesar plant on 29th August. They asked the workers to sign the Good Conduct Bond. The workers refused to sign it and went on strike. It has been 11 days now, but the strike still continues.
A meeting was held today between the management, state labour department officials and workers, for solving the issues, but no decision came out. This was the second meeting since the day the strike started.
R. C. Bhargava, Maruti Suzuki India's (MSI) Chairman, said that the situation has grown worse and it has now become a political issue. He said that the decisions will now be made keeping in mind the company's principles.
He added that the company won't compromise on this issue and it has made this clear to the workers.
The workers however, feel that the company is taking revenge for the workers' strike that halted the pruction for 13 days, in June. The company had refused to recognise the Maruti Suzuki Employees Union after that, which was responsible for the strike in June.
The workers have now requested Haryana's Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda to look into the matter.
One of workers has claimed that Maruti's management isn't taking necessary steps to reach an agreement. He complained that the senior officials are not even coming to the office of Labour Department, to discuss and resolve the issue. According to him the company has been sending some junior officials who haven't got the rights to make decisions.
The production has remained affected since the day the workers went on strike. Maruti Suzuki had to stop bookings for its new variant of Swift. It has now shifted the production of Swift from Manesar plant to its Gurgaon plant.
