Mitsubishi Mirage small car all set for launch in ASEAN countries and US
The Chevrolet Spark rival, upcoming Mitsubishi Mirage small car is all set to be launched in North America early next year. To be manufactured in Thailand, the five door small car will debut first in ASEAN countries including India and will later be launched in Japan, Europe and other markets. Details of the car slated for the US and other parts of the globe is still awaited. In India, the small car is expected to be launched at a price tag of Rs 5 lakh and will be in all probability challenging Maruti Swift, Chevrolet Beat and others in the segment.

Hoped to have a 1 L and 1.2 L gasoline (petrol) engine, the Mirage hatchback will be a small car and is believed to reform the small car market in whichever country it will be launched. The Mirage car by the Japanese car brand was unveiled at the Auto show this year and since then the industry believes that it will have a small car offering to counter Maruti Swift in the form of this car. Whereas in the US, the small car will be competing with Chevrolet Spark (known as Chevrolet Beat in India) and Fiat 500 besides other small cars in the segment.

As per the details thus available from reports published frequently, the Mirage will have a mileage of 20 kmpl and it will be offered in petrol first. Mitsubishi could offer a diesel avatar later. The under four meter car will be a worth addition to the segment that has become hotter recently with Maruti Swift driving past sales of entry level Maruti Alto. Significantly, there is also a rise in demand for premium small cars in the Rs 4 lakh to Rs 5 lakh category and at an expected price somewhere around this range, Mirage will be hopefully an instant hit.
