MSIL witnesses sufficient hike in sales during August 2013

According to sales statistics revealed by country’s leading car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki India limited it has recorded an increase of almost 61% in sales as compared to sales during the same period last year. Reports reveal that MSIL has sold out 87323 units during August 2013 as against 54154 units sold during August 2012. It is reported that major increase has been witnessed in hatchback segment of cars sold by company. According to sources company’s  SX4 sedan and other utility vehicles and vans witnessed decline sales during the same period. Company’s A segment models i.e., Maruti 800, Maruti Alto, Maruti A star and Maruti Wagon R recorded the sales of 32019 units during August 2013 as compared to 22062 units in August 2012. Similarly in B segment vehicles company recorded the sales 17409 units as against sale of 6059 units during the same period.

It would be interested to know that where in hatchback segment company witnessed encouraging increase in sales, on the other side in the segment of sedan, utility vehicles and vans company’s performance was not satisfactory. While making comparison of sales between August 2013 and August 2012 company witnessed the huge decline in sales of Dzire from 447 units sold in August 2012 and 348 units sold in August 2013, similarly in segment of utility vehicles and vans company witnessed the decline of 33.7% and 31.4%  respectively.

This performance of company can be regarded as an overwhelming performance keeping in concern that MSIL had to stop the production of its vehicles at its production plant located at Manesar from July 18 and re-opened it from August 22, 2012.
