New Maruti Alto 800 price to be more than Alto
The iconic Maruti 800’s replacement car the new Maruti Alto 800 is believed to be pricier than the Maruti Alto contrary to the popular belief that it will cheaper than it and will again transform the Indian car market. There are reasons behind this and there are reasons that do not make it a rival of Tata Nano. But it surely will be a rival of the upcoming Datsun cars by Nissan or any other low budget small car that is launched in India. When Maruti has given indications that there will be a replacement of the present 800 car, it was believed that the new 800 will be priced under Rs 2 lakh. But it’s being based on Alto platform and incorporation of new features makes it a little pricier than the Alto.

The new Maruti 800 is about to be launched in the country and as per sources information it is slated for a pre Diwali launch. Another reason why Maruti will be launching it soon is that the new 800 is the last hope for the car maker to recoup the damage it had due to the Manesar crisis and outage of Maruti Swift and Swift Dzire. It is believed that new 800 sales will be able to replenish all the scars that have left due to the ransack at Manesar. It is also believed that it will further strengthen Maruti’s stand as the largest car maker in India. Notably, following the petrol price hike, the Maruti petrol cars such as Maruti Alto and Maruti Wagon R are hit badly and the diesel models Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire were out of production for a month. Thus it was a double jeopardy for the car maker.

The reason why new 800 will be costlier than Alto is that the car will have an up market dashboard studded with lot more functionality. There will be power windows as part of the standard edition and the presence of the drive airbag will appreciate the price of the car. Also if it is all set to be priced higher than Alto it will be competing with Hyundai Eon. But Maruti will be trying to position it at a price that will be highly attractive to the people of India.
