New Maruti SUV to launch at 2012 Delhi Auto Expo

The things are now seems to be coming in place for nation’s largest passenger automaker Maruti Suzuki, after the horrifying past experiences of impasse that led to financial and production loss, as the company is expected to exhibit a new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo. In the same event in 2010, the company had unpacked a concept Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) named RIII Concept which was later renamed as Maruti Ertiga and after two years of its unveiling it awaits a mid 2012 launch or may be Auto Expo launch itself.

On the same lines the firm could now showcase an SUV along with the launch of seven-seater MPV Ertiga. In the name of SUV the company first made its foray when it launched Maruti Gypsy way back in the year 1985. The 4X4 soft-top off roader did see a satisfactory success in the auto sector, after a long long gap of Maruti Suzuki launched its luxury crossover Grand Vitara, which came and went unobserved by the auto market and car buyers. Overall, after these letdowns in the past, the company has got the right time as it’s the No.1 car maker has strong presence in majority of car segments, apart from SUV division.

The reports powerfully states that Maruti Suzuki will unleash a compressed SUV, as the rival brands Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai are developing mini- SUVs moreover, Korean auto maker is in a hurry and will display its compact vehicle in the 2012 Auto Expo.

Maruti Suzuki’s senior member says that the in the last two three years the SUV segment saw a decent growth, and the company would love to have its existence there but, it may take roughly around two years to make a vehicle ready to hit the road. Till now, the company intends to produce an SUV but it would be early to say that will it make the same on its own or will require Suzuki’s assistance; however it will be manufactured in India and that’s for sure, he added.
