Nissan plans to triple-fold its sales by the end of this fiscal

The Indian unit of the Japanese auto giant Nissan is aiming increases its sales in the Indian market by as much as 300 percent by the end of this fiscal. The company targeting to achieve the sales figure of 40,000 units by the end of this financial year as compared to just 13,000 units sold in the FY11.

Last month, the company sold a total of 1593 units of its car in the Indian market, registering a jump of over 59 percent over the sales figures achieved in the same month last year.

So far, the company’s popular hatchback Nissan Micra has been the biggest contributor in Nissan sales figures. Out of 13,030 units sold in FY11, the Nissan Micra clocked the sales of about 12,000 units. The Micra is currently available in both petrol and diesel versions in the country.

The target of 40,000 units will be achieved with the launch of a series of new car launches in the Indian market. The first one among these is the Nissan Sunny, which will hit the Indian roads in the upcoming Diwali Festive season. The Nissan Sunny will be launched in the country with a different name as the ‘Sunny’ has already been used as a name of small 50cc moped.

The company is also planning to enhance the production capacity of its Chennai based plant to 4 lakh units per annum. Besides Micra, the other portfolio models of the company include Nissan TeanaNissan Xtrail and Nissan 370Z.
