Nissan Sub-Micra, codenamed K2 will be on Indian roads by mid 2013
The renowned Japanese auto brand, Nissan Motors seems making some bigger moves towards the compact cars segment and to expand its Indian operations with the sensational launch of Nissan Sub-Micra. The company’s official has codenamed the Nissan Sub-Micra as ‘K2’, which is expected to hit the Indian marketplace by mid 2013.
Company has pulled-up the socks to strengthen its grip over the compact car segment with the launch of new four models over the next five years. The new Nissan Sub-Micra will be sharing the same platform with the Renault Pulse, based on the Renault-Nissan V-platform. Denying this fact, the CEO of Renault-Nissan, Carlos Ghosn has admitted that the sub-Renault Pulse car is the joint venture of Renault & Nissan that will be based on the A-platform.

The Nissan Sub-Micra K2 will be priced around Rs 3 to 4.5 lakh. The IAB (Internet Architecture Board) has revealed that the upcoming hatchback Nissan K2 will take over the market of popular Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai i10, not available in diesel versions. If words to be believed, the Maruti Suzuki is working on the WagonR’s diesel variant that may be shared with the Renault India.
But, lots of doubts revolving around this news as the Renault India had confirmed that the company won’t use its V-platform with the sub-4 lakh compact car. Therefore, it’s quite difficult to conclude that Renault sub-4 lakh car and Nissan Sub-Micra K2 will be based on the V-platform or the new A-platform. The Nissan K2 has been especially designed to offer the immense pleasure of practical drive on Indian roads at very affordable price.
