Nissan to launch Micra based sedan, Duster based SUV

India’s best selling sedan Maruti Swift Dzire seems to have a competitor in the making and it will be from Nissan’s stable. The Japanese car maker has decided to launch a Swift Dzire competitor car soon. This entry level sedan by Nissan will be giving tough time to the compact sedan Dzire. Besides this, the car maker will also be launching a Renault Duster based compact SUV that will be giving India a much viable options in the segment. This will not only help the car maker gain volumes but will also help it strengthen its presence in the market. Besides these two, Nissan will also be launching the Datsun cars in India and these cars are expected to be low cost cars that will certainly ensure high volumes for the car maker.

Recently, the Nissan India CEO and managing director has replortedly expressed his interest in the SUV segment and has given indications that the car maker will be launching some new offerings in the country. Currently, Nissan has Nissan Xtrail that has a price of Rs 22.14 lakh. Also, Nissan has a presence in the hatchback segment with the Nissan Micra and in the sedan segment with the Nissan Sunny sedan prominently. Soon the car maker will be launching the MPV Nissan Evalia and it will be competing with the Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova and other MUVs in the country.

It is expected that Nissan will be developing SUV on the basis of the Renault Duster as Renault has developed two cars based on Nissan cars. These include Renault Scala based on Nissan Sunny and Renault Pulse based on Nissan Micra. The entry level sedan will be developed on the Nissan Micra in order to keep the price down and also make the production easier in the country.
