Volkswagen Ameo enters in production unit
German car maker has commenced the production of its first ever compact sedan Ameo slated for launch sometimes during the month of June this year, at its production unit located at Chakan in Pune. To be offered with two engine options of 1.2 litre 3 cylinder MPI engine boosting the power of 74 bhp and torque of 110Nm and 1.5 litre 4 cylinder TDI machine generating the power of 89 bhp and torque of 230Nm. Both engines are reported to be mated with five speed manual gear transmission system followed by seven speed DSG automatic transmission system. It is speculated to be offered with price tag ranging from Rs. 5.5 lakh to Rs. 9 lakh.
The compact sedan will be offered with bunch of some extra ordinary features some of which are reported to b e standard features like dual airbags and Anti Lock Braking System followed by integration of ESP and Hill Hold Control System offered in top end variant. Apart from this the top end variant will also embellish features like leather covering offered on steering wheel and gear knob, reverse camera, automatic climate control system, rear air conditioner grille for rear passengers, touchscreen mirror link infotainment system, automatic wipers, and steering mounted controls.

On the exterior front it will be offered with five color option in three trims namely Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. After launch it will compete against Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Tata Zest, Ford Figo Aspire and Hyundai Xcent. The bookings of compact sedan Ameo have been already commenced by the car maker at down payment on Rs. 10,000.
