Volkswagen Beetle Convertible to go on sale next month in the US
At the Los Angeles Auto-show, the German auto-giant Volkswagen has affirmed that it’s much anticipated, Volkswagen Beetle Convertible would be rolled out for sale next month in the US auto-market. At the starting price tag of US $ 24,995, the Beetle Convertible will be another fascinating little premium hatch coupe in company’s portfolio.
Being one of the most ancient names in the automobile industry, ‘the Beetle’ has been an all-time favourite car in the premium hatchback segment. This new Beetle coupe would be available in three in-line options i.e. 2.5 litre petrol engine, 2.0 litre TDI diesel engine and 2.0 litre Turbocharged TSI petrol powertrain.

Its 2.5 litre5-cylinder petrol engine will have the potential to toss out peak power of 170 Hp with its maximum torque of 240 Nm. Moreover, this 2.5 litre power-train would come mated to a six speed automatic transmission. However, another available 2.0 litre turbocharged TSI 4-cylinder engine is potent enough to churn maximum power of 200 Hp with its 281 Nm peak torque. This TSI 2.0 litre turbocharged engine will get a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission installed in it.

As far as the diesel variant is concerned, the Beetle convertible has the efficient 2.0 litre TDI Clean Diesel 4-cylinder engine option available. This diesel engine is efficient enough to churn maximum power 140 Hp with 320 Nm torque. Like the petrol TSI engine option, this TDI in-line also comes mated to a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission. It is anticipated that top of Beetle convertible may come either in beige or in black upholstery. Sources say that the top can be lowered in just 9.5 seconds with an efficient push button system. Furthermore, the company has also confirmed the launch of three special editions of the Beetle Convertible.

The offered engines likes 2.5 litre petrol, 2.0 litre TDI diesel and 2.0 litre Turbocharged TSI petrol are very good but the seating capacity of the vehicle is not good. It is a costly small car than get well response in rich countries and not in India.
